Specialty tours are available on select days during each season. In all trips, enthusiastic guides present a wealth of information on the plants thriving here, the history of the landscape, and tips for taking back to the gardens of Salt Lake City homes. The seeds were planted for the Red Butte Garden way back in the 1930’s. Since then the grounds have been enriched and the Salt Lake City property flourished. Staying true to a mission to “connect people with plants and the beauty of living landscapes” the gardens offer plenty of educational workshops, seminars and special events.
Special events add a bit of delight to the already spectacular garden. ZAP Free Admission Days guarantee that everyone has a chance to appreciate Mother Nature’s brilliance. Scheduled throughout the year free days include Arbor Day, Pioneer Day, Labor Day, Zeke Dumke, Jr. Day and the Annual Holiday Open House and Art Fair. Beginning and expert gardeners seeking additional knowledge look forward to the yearly Horticulture Spotlight Lecture Series where gardening and landscaping professionals share their knowledge on an array of topics. Festivals and other celebrations bring the community together.
Before heading over to the Red Butte Garden take a look at the garden map and learn the layout. Gates to the gardens are open seven days a week so any time is the perfect time to soak in the beautiful scenery.
